Last few days I am playing para and it`s sad how they are useless (more or less) in pvp, especially considering any serious dmg.

So after some experimenting (mainly in RA) I got some build, and cause almost everyone is asking me to ping it, I will share it here too, and hopefully you will like it, or give some advice or 2 to improve it.

Atributes:
Air Magic 9
Spear Mastery 12 +1 +1
Leadership 9 +1

Skills:
Barbed Spear
Blazing Spear
Merciless Spear
Conjure Lightning
Make Your Time
Soldiers Fury
Can`t Touch This
Res Signet

Equipment:
Centurions insagnias, Spear and shield set by choice, spear with lightning spearhead ofc.

Counters:
Usual anti melee (blind, hexes)

Against blind you can try and use "Spear of Redemption". Also "Make Your Time " can be changed for something else.

I run slightly different attributes but that is some good damage. Also I run Conjure Flame since I have a fiery destroyer spear, but it occurs to me that with Conjure Lightning you could use Spear of Lightning and get the extra damage without any drawbacks.

Paragons are useless in pvp?
Tell that to dual para spike, or ranger spike, or motigons in GvG.

EDIT: Oh it's also worth mentioning - Paragons are midline. Support. Not frontline.

They are not a replacement for warriors and were never intended for epic dps.

There has to be something better than "make your time". GftE, Spear of Redemption, Remedy Signet, shell shock, hell leader's comfort.

Generally R/Ps do this better but this can be OK.

As I said, this was used in RA, also when no warriors paragons are frontline (again in RA). Also I said more or less useless. Don`t troll, try build for fun, give some advice on skills or don`t post at all. ty

And yeah foxbat, as I said you can change "Make your time" for anything else. I use it atm, but am constantly changing that skill slot.

I was not trolling, I was commenting that trying to make a Paragon into pure DPS is like turning a mes into a pure-degen. Sure it can be done, but you're wasting a lot of potential.

It's not trolling when you're adding constructive comments to a discussion.

How are Paras in PvP useless? What is your experience?

If your evidence is RA, then you should try GvG, because if you noticed, the benefits of Paras are most evident in larger teams. Otherwise keep this vague and misleading statement to yourself.

As for making the bar better, try shock + awe against spellcasters in RA. You can easily put them out of commission for the entire duration of the daze. Spear swipe is also another option. Surely it can replace useless crap such as Barbed Spear? And no, its not even worth the cover condition for DW.

If all you focus on is damage, then you'll be outclassed by wars. Give yourself a niche where you can excel and you can tell the difference.

Really what you said in your first post (or second)wasnt any constructive criticism on his build. The OP wanted peoples thoughts on his specific build....not whether paragons are midline or not...and whether they are meant to do warrior type dmg.

What you say makes sense, but it still doesnt express your thoughts on his build......?

I would agree with above post. Make your time is replaceable. Too large of a recharge, plus in RA you're not getting the full effect with only 3 other party members. Distrupting Throw is an option as well. Heck maybe even vicious attack.

My thoughts on this build would be useless because the entire concept of this build is flawed.

Trying to make something do what it can't do is foolhardy.

While he may have wanted comments on his build - I would have given them, if that was the pure aim. However, this is not the case. His purpose for this discussion was to try and make Paragons deal more damage in pvp, something that choosing another profession would save him both time and effort.

Seeing how this build is for RA, your statement, while true as apple pie, will make like 80% of the builds in the arena flawed in concept.

Paragons can still find a niche in RA as steady DPS, or anti-caster, or support through a multitude of decent (at least for RA) builds.
